Atkinsons is my go-to store as it has a wide range of very good quality products. I’ve always found the staff helpful and friendly.
Today was exceptional though. I was with my toddler grandson, and looking for a handbag (for me). My grandson loves bags and wheels: you can imagine his joy when he found small, wheeled cabin cases, and pushed one around. He also took a keen interest in numerous bags displayed at toddler height. Staff were busy unpacking large boxes in the bag department and we were getting in the way a bit. One of them, a lady, was responding to my queries, and we got talking about our grandchildren. I eventually chose a bag, and my grandson selected a little red mouse-shaped purse. This lovely lady then insisted on gifting the mouse purse to my grandson. When I explained this to the gentleman working the till, he informed me that the lady was Mrs Atkinson, the owner! And then he put a 20p coin in the purse (so it would never be empty).
What wonderfully kind people! Thank you so much! ❤️

Use it or lose it! The last department store in town and the best place to shop for many items. A Sheffield institution

Fantastic department store. Has everything you could possibly need at really competitive prices, and clearly curated for quality. Plus the shop is well staffed with knowledgeable and helpful people who are happy to enquire with suppliers, order items in etc. A real blast from the past - shopping here fills me with nostalgia for the 90s! A rare and delightful experience nowadays. Plus a good car park.

I would like to commend Anna, for her service today. Having worked in retail I know that many are quick to complain so it is nice to write a simple thank you. Her cheerful outlook, and offer to carry our tray to our table while I paid was most welcome she is an asset to the team.
